1. Rent a Stroller: Rather than lugging a stroller (including on and off of parking lot trams and buses), parents with young children can rent stroller for the day’s use in any of the four Walt Disney World theme parks.  Tips for renters: (1) opt for a length-of-stay rental, which saves some money; (2) keep your receipt; if you’re park-hopping during the day, drop off the stroller when you’re leaving a park and use your receipt to obtain a stroller when you enter another park.

2. Baby Care Centers:  Baby Care Centers are located in all four Disney theme parks and feature private rooms with rocking chairs for nursing mothers, diaper-changing rooms, and feeding rooms with highchairs, bibs and plastic spoons.  There are even diapers, formula and teethers for sale.

3."A rider swap" program lets both parents enjoy a ride – one parent waits with the child while one parent rides a ride.  Afterwards, the other parent can board the ride with minimal wait time, ask any castmember at the attractions for this special rider swap option.

4. Special Guide MapSpecial guide maps are available at Guest Relations in all the theme parks, focus on where you can find the characters, attractions, entertainment and interactive activities of special interest to young children.

5. Theme Park Guide Maps: available in English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese and times guides for shows, character greetings, parades and fireworks are available at Guest Relations locations in each park.

6. Disney’s FASTPASS: Guests can avoid waiting at designated popular attractions in all four Walt Disney World theme parks.  At the entrance to attractions offering FASTPASS, two times are posted: approximate wait time using the normal queue, and return time for FASTPASS holders currently being issued (at no charge to park guests).  If the wait is long, guests can choose to obtain a FASTPASS ticket with an assigned return time (an hour-long window) and then use the time until then for other experiences in the park.  Upon returning to use their FASTPASS, the guest experiences little or no wait time to enter the attraction. Guests who decide to forego a popular parade frequently discover it’s a time to experience a popular attraction with less wait.

7. Mid-Day Breaks:  Especially in the heat of the summer, a mid-day break will be a welcome break from the sun, heat and crowds. Crowd levels at Disney theme parks will be at it's highest around 2pm. I highly recommend arriving at the theme park of your choice about 15 to 20 minutes prior to park opening and enjoying the park until about 1pm. Shortly after lunch is a good time to head back to your resort for a mid-day break. By doing so, you will miss the busiest part of the day at the theme parks. After a refreshing swim or nap, it's time to head back to the theme park for dinner and visit more attractions.

The Magic Your Way ticket system lets guests decide what ticket features best fit their Disney vacation plans.   Guests decide the number of days and whether optional features – park hopping, visits to Disney attractions outside the theme parks, and “non-expiration” of tickets – are important.  As a Disney Vacation Specialist, I can recommend which park ticket will best suit your vacation needs.  To help you navigate the different Magic your Way ticket options, here are some price and value considerations when purchasing your Magic Your Way theme park tickets:

1. Per-day ticket costs decrease for longer stays.  A seven-day ticket without optional features brings down the per-day cost to less than half the price, per day, compared to seven individual one-day Base Tickets.  These tickets are good for one visit to any Disney theme park per day. You can "come-and-go" from the theme park you chose to attend all day long!   The Base Ticket does expire 14 days after the first use.
     ♦
2. The Water Park Fun & More option can produce significant savings for recreation and entertainment outside the theme parks.  It costs $54 plus tax per ticket no matter when you add this option. You can add it prior to your vacation or you can add while you are at Disney (even on the last day of your vacation) and the cost is still $54 plus tax per ticket.   The number of admissions it provides to the guest’s choice of Disney water parks, DisneyQuest, Disney’s Oak Trail golf course and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex varies depending upon the number of days of the Base Ticket (the option on a one- or two-day Base Ticket provides two visits to the guest’s choice from among the listed attractions; with a 10-day Base Ticket, it provides 10 visits).  Considering that one-day admission to a water park is $40-$46 or to DisneyQuest is $36-$42, substantial savings are possible.  If you plan to visit a Disney water park more than once during your visit or you plan to visit a Disney waterpark and perhaps DisneyQuest or go golfing, then the Water Park Fun & More option is a definite money saver.

3. The Park Hopper option can enhance the value of the vacation.  This park ticket option allows guests to take advantage of more than one park per day. The Park Hopper option lets Disney guests experience all that Disney has to offer. So perhaps you want to start your day at Magic Kingdom but you want to finish up your day with dinner and Illuminations show at Epcot, then the Park Hopper option is the ticket option for you. Like the Water Park Fun and More option, the Park Hopper option costs $54 plus tax per ticket no matter when you add this option. For first time guests to Walt Disney World, I do recommend purchasing a Base Ticket allowing you entrance into one theme park day per day as there is so much to do at each of the 4 Disney theme parks  that you may not have the desire to park hop (and I can help you build an itinerary that will best suit you and your family), but keeping in mind that my clients can always add the Park Hopper option at any time during their vacation. I hate for my clients to purchase an option on their park tickets if they are not sure they will actually use that option.  To add the Park Hopper option or any other ticket option to your Magic Your Way tickets while you are at Walt Disney World, just visit any guest relations window at the theme parks or the concierge at any Disney resort.

4.Kids under age 3 are provided free admission to all Walt Disney World theme parks!! Who doesn't like free!! I always recommend to my clients that they take their child to Disney before they turn 3.....because, well, they are FREE!  I brought my now 16 year old daughter to Disney World for the first time when she was 2 1/2 years old and it was one of the most memorable family vacations we have had!

On December 31,2010, Magic Kingdom will be ringing in the new year with two amazing fireworks shows!  "Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season" boldest and brightest pyrotechnics show will begin at 830pm and the grand finale "Fantasy in the Sky" will begin at 11:50 pm.

Planning to view the Magic Kingdom New Years Eve fireworks but don't want to deal with the large crowds that are bound to be present at Magic Kingdom? Why not try these spots instead:
  • Disney's Polynesian Resort.  Enjoy the fireworks along the beach. You may even be fortunate enough to snag a hammock.
  • Dinner at California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Enjoy dinner and the fireworks show all in one!
  • Disney's Contemporary Resort has a walkway over to the new Bay Lake Towers, you should be able to view the fireworks from this location as well.
  • Disney's Grand Floridian Resort. Any spot along the water will be great or how about dinner at Narcoosee's restaurant in the resort.
  • Disney's Wilderness Lodge or Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. Grab a spot along the water to view the fireworks.
  • The bus depot outside of Magic Kingdom.  This is a great spot for the little ones in your travel party that are frightened by loud noises. Although the views may be a bit obstructed, you will be the first one on the bus back to your resort.
  • The boat launch area outside Magic Kingdom. And if you are lucky, you can hop on a boat as the fireworks begin to view them while sailing!
What about you? Do you have a favorite spot to watch the fireworks at Magic Kingdom?

Emmy Award-winning actor and best-selling author Michael J. Fox poses for a souvenir photo with Minnie Mouse Sept. 23, 2010 inside a "Dumbo the Flying Elephant" attraction vehicle at "Espace" in New York City during the launch of Disney Parks' "Let the Memories Begin" campaign. As part of this new campaign, Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida will focus on "user generated content" for its future TV commercials and print advertisements. As part of the campaign, each night beginning in 2011 Disney Parks guests will have their own vacation photos projected larger-than-life on two iconic attractions -- Cinderella Castle in Florida and it's a small world in California. (Gene Duncan, photographer)

Today, Disney announced their new campaign or slogan,if you will, for next year.  For the past two years Disney's campaign (slogan) has been "What Will you Celebrate?"   During the "What Will You Celebrate?" campaign, Disney encouraged their guests to visit the parks for any type of celebration, maybe a birthday, anniversary or a personal triumph.  Disney offered special buttons to wear to proudly display your celebration and would offer opportunities for families to grow closer.  Plus there was a free cupcake of two thrown in while dining at some of the Disney restaurants.

I'm sure these buttons and other celebratory moments will still be around for 2011 but now we have a new campaign (slogan) to look forward to for the new year.  The "Let the Memories Begin" will
feature home videos and snapshots of real guests in television ads and other marketing communications. The campaign allows an audience of millions to share in true-life, heartfelt moments. I have to admit, I got a little choked up watching the new commercials!

"Let the Memories Begin" doesn't end there! Beginning in 2011, you could appear in a nightly spectacular when photos of the magical memories you made in the park during the day are projected that night onto Cinderella Castle or "it's a small world." This groundbreaking new experience celebrates the thousands of family vacation memories that are created in Disney theme parks every day.

See a fun "Let the Memories Begin" video here!

So what do you think of the 2011 "Let the Memories Begin" slogan?  Are you ready to share your special moments with the world?
